Important Haircare Tips for the Monsoon

Slicked down wet hair may look sexy on a bikini-clad babe in a Bollywood flick, but the truth is that constant drenching in the monsoon and high levels of humidity spell bad news for your mane. We can fall prey to a number of scalp problems and bad hair days during the rainy season and diligent hair care is needed to maintain the heath and good looks of your locks.
Certain scalp diseases become more prevalent in the monsoon -- exposure to dirty rainwater and consequent warm, humid conditions encourage the growth of bacteria and fungi on the scalp. Painful pus-filled boils due to bacterial infections are fairly common in this season, not to mention severely itchy, flaking patches of fungal infection, which result in hair loss in the affected area (most often seen in children).

Much as we hate to admit it, lice infestations are also way too common in the rains; lice breed during this season. And what's more, such infestations are not just a poor man's problem -- well-to-do, hygiene-conscious people can also be easily infected. The person travelling next to you on the train or your domestic help can easily pass them on to you.

For some, dandruff worsens as the fungus responsible for causing it flourishes in humid weather. Non-specific itchiness of the scalp and irritation are also common.

To prevent these problems, frequent shampooing and keeping your hair dry as far as possible is a must in the monsoons. Contrary to popular belief, frequent washing does not lead to hair loss -- you can even wash your hair daily with a mild shampoo if your hair is exposed to rain every day.

For boils on the scalp try Betadine AD shampoo twice a week; for fungal infections and dandruff you can try ketoconazole-based shampoos like Nizral, KZ etc. For lice, apply Perlice, leave on for a couple of hours and wash off. If the problem is not resolved in a few days or become very severe, please do consult a dermatologist immediately.

You must also dry your hair after shampooing thoroughly. Use a hair dryer with a diffuser attached and keep it six to eight inches away from your hair to avoid singeing/ burning. If you're caught unawares in a rain shower and don't have a hair dryer (say at the office or a cinema hall) flip your hair under the hand dryer in the bathroom and run your fingers through it till dry.

Conditioning is very important in the monsoon as excess humidity in the environment tends to frizz your hair. A good conditioner neutralises this frizzing and smoothens out the hair, making it manageable. Severe frizziness in curled or permed hair can be tackled with anti-frizz serums available in the market (TIGI, Schwarzkopf etc). If you're planning to colour your hair or perm it, it's advisable to wait till the rains are over as such treatments don't always give their best results in highly humid conditions.

Keep your nourishment levels up with a high protein diet and plenty of whole grains and nuts, which are rich in biotin (the vitamin that helps hair growth). You can also try protein-rich hair packs. Blend an egg white, olive oil, soaked and crushed fenugreek (methi) seeds and yoghurt and coat sections of your hair with it using a pack brush. Leave on for half an hour and shampoo out thoroughly with lukewarm water. Severe hair loss or breakage should be tackled by a dermatologist to determine the exact cause and to institute effective treatment for the same.

And here's the golden rule for healthy hair in the monsoons -- keep hairstyles short and simple and your scalp clean and dry.

Different Types Of Hair Conditioners

Using hair shampoos may have some negative effects on hair, while a good hair conditioner can be a perfect choice to prevent and treat those effects. The idea is that our hair follicles produce natural oil called sebum which acts as a natural antiseptic and protects our hair. Our hair needs regular cleansing as grime and dirt stick to this sebum during the day, when we are out.

Ordinary soaps are not able to do this job, so we need a mild hair shampoo to cleanse the scalp, but in addition to dirt and grime, the shampoo also takes away some of our sebum. Here comes the need for a product that restores this balance of the oils and replaces them, thus moisturizing hair and giving them a shine.

There are various kinds of hair conditioners that we can choose from, depending upon the kind of our hair and the purpose of conditioning that we have in mind:
• Leave on hair conditioner- People suffering from damaged hair and who have non-manageable flying hair, the product is the perfect choice for them, as it adds shine to the hair and helps them to retain moisture.
• Homemade hair conditioner- In such conditioners, the ingredients such as olive oil and avocado act as the humectants. These conditioners trap the moisture inside and lock it up, so that hair continues to receive moisture that it needs. Avocado is an effective moisturizing element and is perfect for brittle and dry hair. While making a home made ones using avocado, the ingredients needed include ¼ avocado, mashed and peeled, ¼ mayonnaise, food processor or blender. You need to combine mayonnaise and avocado in a food processor or blender until it becomes smooth and consistent. Apply this on the hair and cover it up with a shower cap for at least 15-20 minutes. After that, rinse it off using a gentle shampoo.
• Deep hair conditioners- Every body do not need deep treatment, but they are the ones for really unmanageable hair. In fact, it is a must for permed, curly, relaxed or straightened hair; otherwise, using it 2 times a month is more than sufficient.
• Natural hair conditioner- The ingredients of a natural products include milk, honey and plant extracts like henna. This can be used every day as it is harmless because it does not contain any chemicals, and is perfect for any type of hair including thick, thin, curly, straight, oily and dry hair.
• Conditioner for breaking hair- The formula of a conditioner for breaking hair helps the scalp in absorbing the benefits of cleansing action, and the conditioner includes agents of moisture giving the scalp a shiny lustrous and healthy hair, and also facilitates the growth of hair.
• Long hair conditioners- Long hair are difficult to manage and need extra care. It prevents damage of the scalp and hair, make the hair strong and moisturize the scalp.
• Solid hair conditioner- It is also good for scalp and hair, especially if the hair is excessively dirty and grimy. Not only humans, but dogs also need to have healthy hair. After all, everybody likes to play with a beautiful and lustrous dog, which is actually the lustre of its hair. So, in order to make it more attractive and soft, the product for dogs with ingredients like chlorhexidine acetate cleanses and restores the lustre to hair coat of dogs.

Hair With A Bang Is A New Hair Trend

Hair with a bang is a new hair trend. Haircuts with bangs work on many levels. We see this on many celebrities. A new look means a new hair style. Bangs are the most versatile and hairstyles with bangs are the rage. The credentials of the bang look goes back to the beginning of the celluloid era and the movie industries introduction of this style. The mushrooming of the film industry was the driving force behind this phenomenon.
The claim to fame of this genre is based as much on the technical advances of the film industry as the celebrity adoration that have sprung up in America. What this translates into is the emergence of the beauty industry as an established player in the beauty, glamor, and fashion market of the world. With an image conscious consumer the hair styles capture the spirit of the American women. The adventure of the American women is increasingly expressed though her look, with hair being a key component.
The fashion-oriented women know the strength of her image. The best way to express this seems to be by hair and its styling. Several new hairstyles have been launched in the past few years. The icons for these hairstyles happen to be celebrities. Most of the styles have featured bangs. The choice of the type bang is usually based on features of the hair that is displaying the bangs. The first step in providing a new hairstyle is in assessing the texture of the hair.
The optimum salon experience is one that improves and renews the strength, moisture and elasticity to the hair while providing a versatile style. This is where the hair cuts with bangs show its form. Hairstyles with bangs are usually the most versatile. Hair textures vary and this is why hair bangs are customized.
The asymmetrical bangs with slight flipped ends are one that looks good on many women. The lightly side swept bangs are great for festive evenings as well as daytime jaunts. These two types work with a few different textures. Fine hair and medium textured hair usually work well with these styled bangs. Wispy hair bangs work to give a soft look to a short or long hairstyle. Blunt cut bangs are usually worn with a straight hairstyle.
Bangs add spice and draw attention to a person by giving them a totally different look. Testing a new style is not something you decide on in the spur of the moment. In advance of going to your stylist you research the styles and trends. That means looking through a lot of magazines. It is important to take into account the natural texture of your hair before choosing a new style. Now you are ready to put yourself into the hands of a professional stylist.
Now you are on your way to fabulous cut and new look. The reason I like an upscale beauty salon is that they are not in a time warp. They are usually on top of the trend setting styles. When they hire stylist they are quite picky and want good credentials and quite a bit of experience. So your new bangs will not be a throw back to the beginning of the motion picture industries first screen beauties. Hairstyles with bangs have moved into the twenty first century. A haircut with bangs can ensure you a different look.

However, it is possible to control most of these factors that lead to untimely hair fall among individuals.
Though hair loss is not a life-threatening situation, but it may imply internal health problems. Besides, it may also spoil the level of self-confidence in the long run. As there is no permanent cure for hair loss, but it is possible to take some preventive measures to ensure healthy and shining hair. Some of these tips are listed below:
1) Role of Diet
A nutritious diet, which contains all essential vitamins and minerals, helps in minimizing the hair loss. Therefore, you must include green, leafy vegetables, raw oats, and whole grain cereals, eggs, dates, and raisins in your daily food regime. As the hair is made of protein, you are advised to stick to protein-rich diet, such as calves liver, brewer's yeast, and wheat germ. These foods also contain Vitamin B, which is an important nutrient for hair. Outer coverings of potatoes, cucumbers, and green and red peppers are high in silica, which is essential to maintain the beauty and strength of your hair. Vitamin E also promotes hair growth and reduces hair fall. A person may experience hair fall due to thyroid dysfunction also. Therefore, you must include foods, which are good sources of vitamin A and iodine.
2) Washing routine
Your hair cleansing routine largely depends on your hair-type. People having oily hair may need to wash their hair regularly, while people having dry hair can wash it twice a week. Never use too hot or too cold water to wash your hair. While cleaning or massaging your hair, you should always use your fingertips and not your nails to gently clean your scalp.
3) Proper combing
You should use a wide-tooth comb to untangle your hair and comb in downward direction. Using a wooden or tortoise shell comb is a better idea than using a rubber comb. Avoid combing wet hair, as wet hair can easily break.
4) Drying your hair
If possible, allow your hair to dry naturally. Avoid using blow dryer as its heat can damage your hair, and also make it look coarse and lifeless.
5) Using proper conditioner
Protect your hair from sudden environmental changes, while going out to a beach or a pool. You must use an effective conditioner as it protects your hair from the sun, chlorine, and sea water. You should also wear a protective hat or a cap to avoid overexposing your hair to the sun, salt or chlorinated water and pollution.
6) Use of shampoo and conditioner
Always choose a simple formula shampoo, which costs you less money. Remember, the basic purpose of a shampoo is to wash away the dirt and the oil. Therefore, use a milder shampoo, which is less expensive and more beneficial for your hair. Apply a good quality conditioner once you clean your hair with the shampoo, but do not over-condition your hair.
7) Choose a comfortable hair style
Choose a hair style that truly reflects your style and taste while significantly enhances your personality. Often traditional hair styling products are rich of alcohol and other harsh chemicals, which may again harm your hair.
8) Knowing your sleeping pattern helps control hair loss
Comb your hair gently while going to bed. You should also gently remove all bands or clips used during the day. Do you know that your sleeping pattern also affects the life and health of your hair? People who are restless even while they are sleeping may actually end up breaking their hair. So, if you belong to the restless community of sleepers, you should use s satin pillowcase, which allows your hair to move smoothly and thus cause less breakage.
9) Limit the use of alcohol and smoking products
Reduce alcohol consumption and also avoid using it on your hair. Avoid using hair care products that contain alcohol. This is because alcohol can make your hair look dry, brittle and prone to breakage.
10) Avoid using harsh chemicals
Certain harsh chemicals such as permanent hair color and perms can also affect the health and growth of your hair. Therefore, you must avoid coloring your hair more than once every 2-4 months.

Always protect your hair when you are initially washing your hair it is important to protect your hair from damage, to do this always use a good shampoo and conditioner. The benefits of this will be that the hair will become protected and will be less prone to damage during the straightening process. Use a good quality hair dryer that has an attachment to precisely direct the airflow to the desired area of the hair.
Invest in a Good Hair Iron If you want lasting results. On the market today there are many good quality hair irons that have flat ceramic plates and have an adjustable temperature gauge that can heat up to 400 degrees. The majority of the new irons will also be able to add shine and effectively eliminate fizz as well as straightening your hair. Some of the top manufactures of hair irons include Karmin, GHD and Chi, the price of a hair iron can range dramatically from just 80 to over 250 dollars. Make sure you read the specification of each iron before you buy and choose one that meets your requirements.
There are treatments that could be considered if you are looking for an alternative method. One such method is to use a relaxing agent; this is a chemical straightening process that is widely used by African-American women for years. The process involves modifying the actual structure of the hair follicle. This process is not recommended to be done in the home; qualified salon professionals will do this for you. There are different forms of the relaxant depending on the type of hair you have and this will need to be analyzed before starting the process. The treatment will usually cost between 200 and 400 dollars and takes a couple of hours to complete.
If you are looking for a more long term treatment then you would be more interested in Japanese thermal reconditioning. Again this is a salon only treatment and will take several hours to complete, however the results are truly amazing and your hair will remain straight regardless of the weather, washing or any other factor. Any new hair that grows will still grow curly so you need to go back to have enhancements. The process is however on the expensive side and can range in price from 800 to 1500 dollars depending on your hair type. When having this process make sure the stylist is qualified, the procedure is technical and training in this form of straightening is essential.
There are many hair straightening tips and depending on what you require will depend on which technique you would choose. Hair straightening can be done at home or in the salon and you can get great results for the short or long term, follow some of the basic hair care advice to ensure there is not any long term damage to your hair.

Need Help For Dry Hair?

Unfortunately many of us are cursed with dry hair. And all us gals and guys with this type of hair know that it can look dull and straw like - very unattractive and frustrating. I happen to believe my problem dry hair is a result of genetics and not something I did or continue to do. We all hear things that if you are not treating your hair right, you will develop dry, lack luster hair. They say things like blow drying, straightening, curling and all those other wonderful things we do in the name of vanity do not help our plight. Now since "genes" have given me dry hair, I have done some research on the big Dos and Don'ts for dry hair and some treatments that they claim actually work. Not that I'm admitting to doing anything harmful to my mane, I vow to try some, maybe even all, of these Dos and Don'ts. Can't hurt right! Feel free to do the same and please let me know your results so we can compare notes.
DOs:
- Be gentle to your hair. Use a only wide tooth comb, definitely not metal, on hair when it is wet since hair stretches more when wet and can easily break or get damaged.
- Use mild shampoo. Shampoo made for dry or damaged hair is usually mild which means it will not rob your hair of all the natural oils. In a pinch I have used my son's baby shampoo which is extremely mild.
- Shampooing about three times a week is plenty for dry hair. Other days just wet it if you must and always use hair conditioner.
- If you have long hair, when you do shampoo, try to shampoo only the scalp and the hair closest to it. Piling it all up on your head and vigorously lathering does not help and can break the hair. So much for what the shampoo commercials portray. The shampoo will clean the rest of your hair, ends and all, as it is rinsed out.
- As much as it is very chic to have your tresses blowing freely in the wind like shown in the movies, this is not healthy, specially for dry hair. Whether it is a hot summer breeze or a cold drafty one, it will thoroughly dry out your hair and quickly.
- Trim off the dry ends. This one hurts! Although long, shiny hair is considered so very sexy; long, dry, dull hair is not. Let's get our hair healthy and then we can all flip it around in that glamorous way.
- Never swim in chlorine or salt water without protection. Here I am not talking about a life preserver, although if you need one go for it. I am talking about a swim cap. Yes, this is one of the things I am definitely not willing to do for beautiful hair. If you are brave enough use the cap or for cowards like me drench your hair in a protective hair product with SPF or you can even use a dab of olive oil.
- Try a leave-in conditioner. These tend to do the same thing for your hair as face moisturizers do for your face. They will keep your hair quenched all day and also tame the frizzies.
- Use only natural bristles brushes for styling.
DON'Ts:
- Do not brush hair when wet.
- Do not towel dry it vigorously. Gentle remember.
- Do not blow dry your hair or use other tools like straighteners, curlers etc. Naturally air drying your hair is best. Well at minimum don't do this everyday and never use two of these tools during one grooming session.
- Do not blow dry hair that is soaking wet. Let it air dry to where it is barely damp and then use you hair dryer. Less time in heat means less damage and dryness.
- Do not use any styling tool on the hottest setting.
- Do not use any styling product with alcohol - definitely not one that has it listed as one of the top couple of ingredients.
Treatments:
- Mayonnaise makes a great conditioner. If you have enough time, leave it on for an hour and you will like the results. If you are in a hurry, even 5 minutes of this goo will help.
- Use conditioners that have omega 3 or lipids which will replace lost moisture.
- A natural leave-in solution is to take a couple of drops of safflower oil and run it through dried hair from roots to ends.Jojoba oil or coconut oil work as a great deep conditioner. For that matter you can use just about any oil. Apply the oil, wrap your hair with plastic wrap and cover with a towel to keep the heat in. Rinse with cool water, shampoo, condition and voila.
- Emu oil is the latest craze and is supposed to be the best thing for dry hair. Try it if you can find it.I know all this is not going to be easy but let's all try to picture the end result of gorgeous, silky movie star hair that will get those jealous looks wherever we go.Wishing you many, many good hair days!

Protecting Your Hair

Is you hair frizzy, uncontrollable, have lots of split ends, feels horrible, is greasy and or just looks and feels a mess. If so I might have some helpful tips for you.
My hair used to get really frizzy when I blow dried it after I had washed it and the split ends could be seen easily, it felt like a fake wig sometimes. It didn’t feel soft to touch and it looked a mess whatever I did, then the good old hair straighteners came out. I went and purchased a pair of pink ones think they cost £20, they took a long time to heat up, but when they did I could not only straighten my hair but get rid of the frizz that took over my head. I loved my hair straighteners and properly used them most days, but then I noticed my split ends had got worse and I had them half way up my hair not only on the ends, I didn’t know what to do. Luckily it was summer and I had gone on holiday I had taken my hair straighteners but couldn’t be bothered to actually use them so I let my hair dry itself. After tow weeks of letting my hair dry naturally without the use of a hairdryer or my hair straighteners I noticed my hair had calmed down, there was shine and it felt so soft.
Following my holiday I kept letting my hair dry naturally and I couldn’t believe the difference my hair was suddenly looking really good, soft to touch, less split ends and no frizz. The more weeks I didn’t blow-dry and straighten my hair the better my hair got so for months I rarely got out my straighteners and if I did it was only to straighten out the front bits of my hair, but then winter came. I struggled to let my hair dry naturally as it was taking hours to dry and if I did go out I would of properly caught a cold so I began to blow-dry my hair again. I decided not to use my straighteners the day I blow-dried my hair if this was possible as I found this helped a lot. If I was going out or wanted my hair to look good I did use my hair straighteners but not for ages just a few swipes through my hair and it was done.
I have now been doing this for the past two years and I still can’t believe the difference in my hair. It feels so soft, it looks good, yeah I still get split ends but I can cope with them as there just mainly on the ends now not half way up my hair and the frizz has completely gone I don’t get it anyway which is fab.
I hear so many adverts, advertisements in magazines saying use this product this will protect your hair when blow drying and straightening but I just can’t use any of these products as there too heavy for my hair. I have tried so many different products but they all do the same make my hair feel heavy, not nice and it gets a lot greasier quicker which is something I can’t stand. So if your like me forget the products, try and do what I do allow your hair to dry naturally at least once a week whatever the weather, don’t straighten your hair directly after blow-drying it wait if you can to the next day and if you do have to straighten your hair everyday only do it quickly don’t spend ages doing it, your hurting your hair!!!!

Short Haircuts - How To Choose One Of Many

A short haircut does not imply one specific cut, because the lengths of numerous short haircuts differ. To make it simpler one can separate the lengths into three different groups, namely: super short, jaw length and chin length cuts. Short haircuts are flexible and with some added color you can sport a stylish and feminine hairstyle.
When contemplating one of the shortest crops you have to be very sure before you decide to take the leap. A great tip is to pull back your hair and to envision what it would look like. Normally elliptical facial shapes carry this style very well, however if your face is too long, wide or round you should opt for a longer short haircut. A shorter crop is refreshingly convenient, a wash and go style if you will. This cut is not for the faint of heart though, but with ample poise this style can be pulled off marvelously. Layers in various lengths give a hint of volume. You can have textured pixie bangs or leave them a bit longer and style them at any slant.
The jaw length fashion can be matched with bangs, longer at the sides and layers. This hairstyle may be modified according to your facial outline, however if you have a prominent jaw line or pointed chin this hairstyle will put emphasis on it. This crop sets a great foundation for different styling choices, for example you can add flicks and spikes, blow dry for volume, use a straightening iron for a polished look, experiment with different side partings, in the end you can have a unique look each day of the week.
The chin length crop is idyllic for any facial outline, although you can ask your hair stylist to play up specific features with a cut that is perfect for you. At present the trendy uber stylish bob is very popular, in essence because there are different cutting techniques, which can be layered, graduated or one length. By adding bangs, which can be micro, side swept or blunt you can immediately improve your haircut. With this chin length crop the styling methods are endless.
It is certainly a huge step for anyone to cut their long hair, thankfully we've evolved and new software can provide you with a sample of your new do. If you like a specific haircut collect similar images and explain to your hair stylist what you want and ask for their advice, after all they studied cosmetology and are trained in this line of work. Make sure that the salon you pick out has first-class references and you feel contented with your selection and hair stylist.
Taking care of your hair should be your first priority. Moisturize your hair on a weekly basis and keep away from using too much heat on your hair. These days you can attain great styles with different methods, it's a lot uncomplicated to accomplish with an investment in some great superior styling tools. Some Quick Tips For Low Cost Wedding Hair Styles

Some Quick Tips For Low Cost Wedding Hair Styles

The wedding of a woman is the most important occasion of her life. As, through the wedding her life will be linked with the new family and rest of her life she would spend with her husband. Every woman wants to look best on this auspicious occasion so as to make a better impression on her future family.

Though, beauty stands for overall appearance and personality of a person. But, the style of hair plays a big role in enhancing the beauty and personality of a person. And, when it comes to hair styling for the wedding day, many women often get tensed over the issue of selecting the best and cost-effective hairstyle on their marriage day. Here you have some vital tips to style your hair to suit your personality as well as your pocket.

First of all, you have to decide your hairstyle for the marriage day. So you must choose in advance whether you want your hair to be long, short, curly or straight. You must choose a hairstyle that suits your appearance also. Next, you need to select a salon, which may serve you the best at cheaper rates. Make a visit to the salon couple of months prior to your marriage. Get your hair style adjusted with your hair stylist and check which of the possible hairstyles may suit you. You can even look for some bridal magazines or bridal websites to research possible hairstyles.

It makes more sense if you get a salon booked well in advance. Because, during the peak seasons, the salons specialized in wedding hair styling are booked up early. This way, you can save yourself from the last minute unavailability of hairstylist. Moreover, if you book in advance you are saved from paying exorbitant amounts of money otherwise demanded by hairstylist at the last minute.

Once you have chosen the salon as well, you need to find a hairstyle that would match the shape of your face. The round face looks better with long hairstyle over the head. On the other hand, the long face looks good in wide and heavy hair around the head. The next crucial factor is what kind of a dress you are going to wear on your marriage function. If you are wearing an off the shoulder dress, you can try it with your hair up high styles. Alternatively, if you are wearing a veil, you need to have enough hair to hold the grip of the comb. So, the lengthy hair will be more suitable for such veils. If you choose to wear a tiara or a veil dropping around your face and neck, you should see if your hair does not look awkward. For such dresses, the simple hairstyle will suit the best.

There are many low-cost wedding hairstyles, which look attractive as well as simple. You just try matching these hair styles with your dress and your face. The least complicated hairstyles will be cheaper, as they are easy and quick to be performed.

If your marriage is a more casual ceremony, you can hang some flowers around your face and hair. Flowers are even the favorite choice of many wedding brides and give a more decent look to their hairstyle.

So, whatever style you adopt you should check that it matches your face, wedding dress, and your height. To get the low-cost wedding hair styles, your style ought to be more simple and pocket-friendly, while less time consuming and difficult.

Permanent Hair Straightening Basics

Permanent Hair Straightening Basics

Permanent Hair Straightening has become very popular as recent styles of pin straight hair are the in thing. This technology was developed in Japan where straight hair is desired by most women. This process is generally called Japanese Hair Straightening but in the US, Canada & UK it is also referred to as Ionic Retexturizing, Japanese Straight Perm, Thermal Reconstruction, and Rebonding. This is a very intensive process that leaves the hair completely straight, and feeling silky and smooth with a glossy appearance. It works by breaking down the hydrogen bonds in the hair's cortex to remove all curl and waves. Since this is a permanent restructuring of your hair, it will last until new hair growth, which will of course come in as normal.

Permanent Hair Straightening only works on Caucasian or Asian hair. It is not recommended for African hair which is considered more fragile. For African hair you are better of with relaxing which is especially made for African hair. If you have used a relaxer on your hair in the past you should not get your hair permanently straightener as these two processes are not compatible and you may see breakage or fall out. Also, be sure to inform your stylist about other processes like bleaching, color, highlights etc. that you have used in the recent past. The best way to make sure you are a good candidate for this process is to have your stylist do a strand test. Actually your stylist should be the one to suggest this if they are professional and and experienced and are looking to get you the best results. Although straightening can be done on colored hair, be sure to follow general guidelines of waiting two weeks or more before and after.

If you do decide to go ahead remember that hair straightened by this process will keep your hair looking smooth and shiny for six to nine months depending on your hair growth rate. Therefore the 4 to 6 hours (depending on hair length) it takes for the process is definitely worth it. You may also think that the cost of $500-$800 for a good experienced stylist is worth it as it will cut down on daily styling time for many months. I will caution you to use only shampoos and conditioners recommended for your new shiny mane. Primarily you will need deeper conditioning, maybe even leave-in conditioners, and styling products with sunscreen.

I have many friends that swear by Japanese Hair Straightening and have not personally heard any horror stories. I myself am considering it but am still mulling it over. One thing to remember is that permanent means that you will not be able to have any curls or waves - no curling iron will work. So it is a commitment for over six months so choose wisely.
